Baby Shower Decorations
A crepe paper Baby-shower-decoration may very well be pretty, but it's usefulness will last only until the shower is over. Instead of looking for the latest trendy table decoration, why not look for ways to combine the things the baby and mom-to-be are going to need into your decorating scheme?
Starting with the baby shower table decoration, look for ideas that are fun, inviting and practical.
Baby Socks
Instead of buying that crepe paper table decoration, why not make a replica of a wedding cake using cloth baby diapers? While cloth diapers aren't so often used as diapers, new moms will find a myriad of uses for these soft and handy wipes. Begin by rolling up half the diapers to look like a roll of toilet paper about a foot tall. Fold the rest of the diapers somewhat shorter and continue to roll to furnish the look of a wedding cake.
Use diaper pins to hold the ends in place, then "decorate" the "cake" using baby necessities together with toys, a thermometer and other small items. This makes a great garnish (sometimes called a diaper cake) that mom can dismantle
later for use with the baby.
If the mom-to-be already has a theme for the nursery, reconsider addition on that theme for the baby shower garnish theme. Instead of hanging streamers from the ceiling, suspend stuffed animals to coordinate with the zoo theme.
If Raggedy Ann and Andy are being used as for the nursery, why not use the two dolls seated in a small rocking chair for the center piece?
Another Baby-Shower-decoration idea is to use baby socks to create a corsage for the mom-to-be.
Simply secure four socks (use lacy socks if the baby is to be a girl) until they look like wadded up balls, then fasten together with pins and add small flowers. Your theme could enlarge on this idea with each person asked to create a "bow" for their gift using nothing but baby items.
